Killara

16 March 2023

This song means a lot to me, the story seemed to come out of nowhere but then I realised it was always there.

The powerful woman ‘Killara’ came to me in a dream after a long day up in the Watagans. I’d also been reading a lot about my ancestor who came out to Australia from Scotland as a convict in 1844. I had pages of lyrics. Julieanne helped me finish it and added some magic.

It’s probably my favourite on the album. Barto’s Didgeridoo and Langy’s Irish Bouzouki add big spirit.

We went for a walk in the bush and shot this video. Kept it simple, letting the bush and the words tell the story.
